More than 20,000 helped clean the banks of the Ohio River last year, and now even more volunteers are needed after mass flooding earlier this year.

For 22 years, the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO) has led the efforts of River Sweep, the annual event where volunteers help clean up the banks of the Ohio River.

The River sweep stretches across six states and 2,000 miles. The banks will be combed as volunteers gather garbage and debris.

There are site locations in every county along the river and volunteers will be given trash bags gloves and even a free tee shirt.

In Hamilton county there are two locations where work will begin - Schmidt field and Fernbank Park.

For more information on the River Sweep, all the locations or to find out how to volunteer
